In addition to the physical exam, further diagnostic procedures are necessary to determine how internal body systems are functioning. If your pet gets sick, we want to be able to give the most accurate diagnosis possible to prescribe the most effective treatment to get you and your loved one well and happy! We offer a range of diagnostic technology and services on site to aid us in reaching a diagnosis as quickly as possible so that we can start treating your pet right away!
Digital Radiology
We use radiology to diagnose bone, joint, lung, spinal, urinary, liver, and many other diseases. X-rays generally show the size, shape, and position of internal organs. We can also send radiographs to specialists at other hospitals for timely review and input.
Ultrasound
Ultrasounds are used to assess the shape, size, tissue density, internal structure and position of your pet’s abdominal organs, evaluate cardiac health (also called an echocardiogram), diagnose pregnancy, identify masses or tumors, and as a guide in surgical biopsies. Dr.DiMeo has extensive training in ultrasonography, and a board certified Veterinary Radiologist is available for consultation.
Electrocardiography (EKG)
We use the EKG to monitor the electrical activity of the heart, such as heart rate and rhythm. EKGs are performed at our clinic, and a board-certified Veterinary Cardiologist is available for consultation.
Cytology
Cytology is the examination of tissue or blood cells under a microscope. We use this procedure to diagnose skin disease, skin growths, cancer, ear infections and other problems.
In-House Laboratory
We use our in-house laboratory to perform a wide range of diagnostic tests including Blood Chemistries and Blood Counts, Electrolytes, Urinalysis, and Fecal Analysis.
We also utilize an external commercial laboratory for specialized diagnostics and consultations.
Specialist Referrals
We have an experienced network of Veterinary Specialists available to perform diagnostics or procedures at our clinic for the comfort of your pet and your convenience. Should your pet require evaluation of a condition or a medical treatment we can perform at the clinic, we will refer you to a specialist whose expertise we trust.
